Bradley Sisson's "Ferrous" earns NAHRA's GMHRCH Title

Baldwinsville, NY.  On 09 August 2008 Leatherstocking Hunting Retriever Assn. held a NAHRA field test at Three Rivers State Game Management Area.  Under the judging of Dave Combs and Joe Letta, "Ferrous" (GMHRCH Tugboat's Ironwood Lap MH, CD, CGC, TDI) earned his 1000th Senior point, and with it, the Grand Master Hunting Retriever Champion title.

Ferrous is but the second Chesapeake Bay Retriever (CBR), and the first CBR dog, to ever earn this title.

Ed Callender's "Mic" earns

AKC's MH Title

Jackson Center, Pennsylvania.  On 25 May 2008 the Greater Pittsburgh Golden Retriever Club held an AKC-licensed retriever hunting test.  "Mic" (Chesagrove's Micmac Scout JH, MH) earned his 6th AKC Master Hunting Test qualification, and with it, AKC's Master Hunting Retriever title.  As a result of Mic not having AKC's Senior Hunting Retriever title, he had to qualify at 6 Master tests instead of the normal five.  Even so, Mic qualified in 5 out of the last five events.

Mic is but the 7th Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (Toller) to earn AKC's MH title.

Cheltenham, MD.  Congratulations to "Jake" for having earned his first AKC Master Hunting Retriever Test qualification at Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac's May 2007 hunt test.  Jake was one of only two Chessies that qualified at that level.

RRRC - ACC Joint Training Day a Success

By Bradley Sisson, President, RRRC, Inc.

Shady Grove Kennel & Hunting Preserve, Remington, Va.  On Saturday, June 3rd, 2007, Rappahannock River Retriever Club, Inc. (RRRC) held its June Training Day, which was done in conjunction with American Chesapeake Club (ACC).

Club members, Julie Reardon (RRRC Secretary and ACC Regional Director for Virginia), Susan Medjo (RRRC General Counsel and ACC Regional Director for Maryland), and ACC members Pat and Doug Puwal organized the well-attended event.

With Pat Puwal, Susan Medjo, and Bill Redfern providing guidance with the puppies/started group; and David Hamel (RRRC VP and AKC Judge), and Doug Puwal (who has earned more than 40 AKC Master qualifications, including the much coveted Master National) providing guidance with the Senior/Master group, dogs of all ages were given an opportunity to work at their ability level.

Nearly all recognized retrieving breeds were in attendance.  In addition to Labrador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers, also in attendance were Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Standard Poodles, Irish Water Spaniels and Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers.

With warm sunny skies, challenging tests, and an included picnic lunch,  participants coming from near as well as far as 4 hours away enjoyed the opportunity to meet other enthusiasts and to let their dogs enjoy the day afield.

Interested individuals are encouraged to make plans to attend the next training session, which will be held at Shady Grove on the first Saturday in July (July 7th).
